Shri Rahul Singh IAS (Bihar 1996) presently Chairperson- Central Board of Secondary Education has been given extension for a period of two years beyond 11.11.2025 i.e. up to 11.11.2027 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

A B.Tech. graduate in Computer Science with a First Division, Shri Singh further honed his expertise by completing a Post Graduate program in Public Policy and Management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Before his current role, Shri Singh served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), where he contributed to critical reforms in personnel management and administrative processes at the national level. His tenure as Joint Secretary in the same department saw him representing India in G20 and BRICS forums, demonstrating his ability to handle international collaboration and policy dialogue with equal finesse.
His earlier stints as Managing Director in Bihar’s Energy sector were marked by forward-looking initiatives in power distribution and electrification, impacting millions of households. In roles such as District Collector in Bhagalpur, Madhubani, and West Champaran, Shri Singh exhibited outstanding administrative capabilities, handling developmental initiatives, disaster management, and citizen welfare programs with empathy and efficiency.
From steering urban development projects in Bihar to managing state education missions, Shri Singh’s career reflects versatility. His leadership of the Mid-Day Meal and school education programs in Patna showcased his commitment to inclusive education and nutritional security for children.
