Shri Rahul Pandey IAS (Uttar Pradesh Cadre) has been transferred and appointed as Special Secretary, State Tax Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. He was previously serving as District Magistrate and Collector, Hathras, where he provided leadership in district administration, revenue management, and development coordination.
A graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University College of Engineering (Deemed University), Shri Pandey’s academic foundation reflects a strong analytical orientation. His technical background has consistently supported his evidence-based decision-making and problem-solving skills within the administrative framework.
Since joining the Indian Administrative Service, Shri Pandey has held several important assignments, demonstrating versatility and administrative depth. His previous roles include Chief Development Officer, Bahraich; Vice Chairman, Varanasi Development Authority; and Special Secretary, Public Works Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. He also served on inter-cadre deputation in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, where he handled diverse responsibilities in departments such as Culture, Information & Broadcasting, Land Revenue, and General Administration.
As Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, and earlier as Director, Archives & Archaeology Department, Srinagar, Shri Pandey gained valuable experience in policy coordination, cultural preservation, and district-level governance. His tenure in these roles reflected a balance between administrative efficiency and people-oriented service delivery.
Known for his structured approach, attention to detail, and focus on transparent governance, Shri Pandey has earned recognition for his ability to adapt to varied administrative challenges—ranging from infrastructure management to urban planning and public service systems.
In his new role as Special Secretary, State Tax Department, he will be responsible for overseeing key fiscal functions, tax administration, and revenue policy formulation. His prior experience in infrastructure and economic governance is expected to contribute significantly to the department’s efficiency and modernization efforts.
