The inaugural ceremony of POWERGRID Vishram Sadan at AIIMS Bilaspur marked a significant milestone, with the foundation stone laid by Shri J. P. Nadda, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha). The distinguished event was attended by Dr. Mansukh L. Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemical and Fertilizers, Sh. Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting of India, and Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, and Shri Jairam Thakur, Hon’ble Leader of Opposition and Former Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh. Shri R. K. Tyagi, CMD, POWERGRID, Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel) POWERGRID, Dr. (Prof.) Vir Singh Negi, Executive Director, AIIMS Bilaspur, and senior officials from POWERGRID and AIIMS graced the occasion.
POWERGRID, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, is actively commissioning projects amounting to approximately 50 crores for AIIMS Bilaspur. The Vishram Sadan, with an estimated project cost of Rs. 26.75 crores, will cover a sprawling 4641.38 sq.m. area, featuring four storeys, 250 beds, and comprehensive amenities such as a waiting hall, cafeteria, and fully equipped rooms/dormitories.
Among the commissioned projects are an MRI machine, funded at Rs. 16 crores, providing a safer and more comfortable imaging experience with swift and accurate results. Additionally, a 128 Slice CT Scanner machine, allocated Rs. 7 crores, proves especially beneficial for emergency cases, ensuring a rapid and precise diagnosis.
The concept of ‘Vishram Sadan’ introduced by POWERGRID aims to offer a comfortable stay for waiting patients and their attendants, easing the financial burden for those traveling from distant parts of the country to specialized hospitals in urban areas. This initiative extends support to the weaker and needy sections of society, providing over 3000 beds across various Vishram Sadans.
As a responsible corporate citizen, POWERGRID has already constructed seven Vishram Sadans at prominent hospitals nationwide. Noteworthy locations include AIIMS, New Delhi, KGMC, Lucknow, UP, IGIMS, Patna, Bihar, DMCH, Darbhanga, Bihar, GMCH, Guwahati, Assam, SSG, Vadodara, Gujarat, and NIMHANS, Bengaluru, Karnataka. POWERGRID’s CSR initiatives, totaling about Rs. 1500 crores, contribute significantly to rural development, education, healthcare, skill development, environment, drinking water, water conservation, and sanitation, fostering economic and social development throughout the country.
