As a part of the ongoing efforts of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) to boost exports, a pre-deployment conference of Defence Attachés, who are to be posted at various Indian embassies abroad, was organized on 13th September 2018 in Kolkata. Such a conference was organized for the first time. 17 Defence Attachés attended the conference, who were briefed by OFB officials on exportable products and their potential in the international market. All Defence Attachés expressed their keen interest in OFB products.

Addressing the gathering, Shri P K Shrivastava, DGOF and Chairman/OFB, said that OFB has been steadily making its presence felt in the global arms market. OFB has made an impact in the financial year 2017-18 with its quantum jump in exports to over Rs 200 crore.

Export has now emerged as a priority area and is a thrust area for future growth. He added that Defence Attachés posted abroad are in a position to render invaluable service by scanning markets, developing contacts, providing inputs for decision making and solving post contract problems.

OFB has identified a number of items that have export potential. The list includes weapons — small, medium and high caliber and ammunition. Brake parachutes, explosives such as TNT and DNT, and large weapon systems are also some of the products that can be exported.
