MODERNISATION IN MEDICAL SECTOR

The development of science and technology have helped the medical fraternity to a large extent. Area, where super speciality experts are unable to access for treating patients are being reached through the Tele Medicine. INAUGURATION FUNCTION

To streamline and coordinate the works in the field of Telemedicine and to train the Medicos in the field, a non-profit organisation, TSI is established during 2001. The Society has Chapter in various States and in the process of inaugurating the Chapters in other States. The inaugural function of the Tamil Nadu Chapter of the TSI was organised today (23-02-2016) at NLC L&DC, Neyveli.Shri N.Muthu , Executive Director (HR), NLC lit the traditional lamp in the presence of Dr.Biswa N Mohanty, the President, TSI, Dr.K.Selva Kumar, the President of TN-TSI, Dr.K.Ganapathy, the Past President, TSI, Mr.L.S.Sathya Murthy, Former Director, ISRO, Dr.K.Janardhan, CGS (Medical), NLC General Hospital to inaugurate the TN-TSI.

HONOUR FOR NLC

NLC GH started the Tele medicine services in the year 2009 with the help of the ISRO. NLC had associated with Sri Ramachandra Medical College (SRMC), Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital (KKCTH), Narayana Hridhalaya, Bengaluru. More than 12,000 cases have been treated at NLC GH through telemedicine. Also the doctor and Nurses of NLC General Hospital are updating their knowledge from Super Speciality Experts through tele medicine. The TSI has recognised the involvement of NLC General Hospital in Telemedicine and honoured the Organisation by inaugurating the Tamil Nadu Chapter at Neyveli.

APPRECIATION :

Dr.P.C.Reddy, in his keynote address over video conferencing said, we take pride in appreciating NLC in the development of the nation through power generation. Also NLC does not confine the health care system to its employees but has extended the same to the members of the family and people from the peripheral villages. EVERY WHERE-EVERY TIME

Shri Muthu in his address said 75% of the population and the medicos are living in the rural and urban respectively. The only option to bridge them is through telemedicine. The ED (HR) thanked the TSI for opting to inaugurate the TN-TSI at Neyveli. He assured all necessary assistance to the Chapter by the Corporation.

SOUVENIR

A souvenir was released by Dr.Mohanty to mark the occasion and the first copy was received by Shri Muthu. Dr.Selvakumar, Dr.Sathiyamurthy felicitated the occasion. Dr.Janardhan, made a power point presentation on the activities of tele medicine in NLC GH.

STUDENT CHAPTER

Students of Medical College can join the Society as a Member. Dr.Ganapathy inaugurated the student chapter. Dr.Ganapathy highlighted the intricacy between engineering and medical field. He further said the nation’s premier institute the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharakpur is to offer MBBS from the next academic year.

COMPLIMENTS

Dr.Vidya Ramkumar, the first woman in the nation to pursue a Ph.D in telemmedicine at SRMC was complimented. Dr.Packiamary Jerome, Dr.S.Aruna and Dr.S.Vijaya Kumari of NLC General Hospital were also complimented. Dr.Senthil, Secretary, TN-TSI welcomed the gathering and Dr.Sheila John, Executive Committee Member, TN-TSI proposed Vote of Thanks.
