Dr.Sarat Kumar Acharya ,CMD NLC India Ltd. has been conferred with the “Seva Rathna Award” jointly instituted by the Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamil Sangam(MTS), Nehru Yuvakendra,GOI, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sri Sairam Institutions, Chennai in recognition of significant and long lasting and excellent contributions to the society. Dr.S.K Acharya reinforcing all the good deeds that NLCIL is doing as a Corporate Business entity with its extensive social outreach under his dynamic leadership, continues its mission from ‘wealth to wellbeing’ for benefit of larger society with a large-hearted humanitarian concerrn has got him and the organization this recognition in a function jointly organized by Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamil Sangam in association with Nehru Yuvakendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports, Government of India, Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan and Sri Sairam Institutions, Chennai held at Chennai on 22.04.2018 the award was presented to Dr.S.K.Acharya.
Dr.Acharya received the award from the Hon’ble Dr. Justice S. Mohan. Former Judge – Supreme Court of India and in the presence of Hon’ble Mr Justice T.N. Vallinayagam, Judge, Lok Adalat, Madras High Court, Dr.P Siva Kumar, distinguished scientist of DRDO, Dr. K. Bala Raman,DG of National Institute of Wind Energy,GoI, Dr Cheyon ,Secretary, MTS and Thiru Sai Prakash Leo Muthu ,CEO Sai Ram Institutions of Technology, Chennai. During the occasion the 37th Ariviyal Poonga, a Science Journal was released.
Earlier, Dr. S.K Acharya inaugurated the Thiruvalluvar Arivukkalannjiayam Development Centre Complex, Free Medical Camp and Tree Plantation at Poonthandalam Village. Dr.S.K. Acharya, whose enthusiasm and innovative ideas have galvanised and captured the imagination of the NLCIL fraternity for doing well for the greater society.
Under his guidance, NLCIL has drawn up a CSR narrative which encompasses the entire gamut of socio economic development. New schemes have been formulated for the betterment and well being of the people living mostly in peripheral areas/States where NLCIL has its operational presence.
Dr. Acharya has been instrumental for innovative schemes like – JAL PARYAPTH under which water augmentation activities are taken up by de-silting and improving storage positions of water reservoirs, lakes and ponds in and around. Through JAL DHARA Scheme, clean drinking water and buttermilk are provided to the public in the summer and Water Purifier RO Plants are getting installed in heritage and pilgrimage sites like Chidambaram, Vridhachalam, Tirupathi, Puri and Velankanni and also in resettlement areas in Neyveli with plans for providing the same facilities in the areas where NLCIL has its presence. He has introduced JAL UDAY Scheme, under which Water Harvesting including construction of Check dams, aquaculture and planting of trees have been taken up with a view to improve the biosphere, water recycling and to promote biodiversity.
It is noteworthy to mention that Dr.Acharya has been honoured with many National and International Awards at personal level including Honorary Doctorate from Utkal University, Orissa & Satya Bhama University of Tamil Nadu and he is well recognized as a Corporate Achiever and inspirational thought leader of India.
Everry year, Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamil Sangam a prominent nonprofit, service-oriented Rainbow HRD NGO, has been conferring Seva Rathna, Ariviyal Kalanjiyam (Eminent Scientist) and Sevai Chemmal Awards to selected organizations, Technocrats, Scientists and Social Service activists in their respective fields to highlight the extensive selfless services in different fields in this era.
