In order to meet the growing need for providing specialized training to NDRF personnel in a dedicated manner and to ensure the synergy of providing training to Fire Service, Civil Defence and NDRF personnel, the Government has decided to create an integrated National Disaster Response Force Academy at Nagpur by merging National Fire Service College and National Civil Defence College, Nagpur & further strengthening the existing infrastructure.
As and when a disaster strikes in the country, the aircrafts are requisitioned from Ministry of Defence on need basis and made available for airlifting of NDRF to the disaster site & undertaking rescue operations. At present the NDRF personnel are imparted training at their respective NDRF battalion headquarters and the training institutions of Central Armed Police Forces.
