The National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC), India’s apex consumer protection body, in partnership with the Department of Consumer Affairs, proudly announces the successful resolution of 854 consumer cases in August 2023, with 455 new cases filed during the same period. This remarkable achievement marks a disposal rate of 188%, reflecting NCDRC’s unwavering commitment to providing consumers with efficient and fair redressal mechanisms.

In 2023, NCDRC has significantly enhanced its capacity to expedite the resolution of consumer cases, reinforcing its dedication to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring prompt grievance redressal.

Under the proactive leadership of NCDRC’s President, streamlined processes, and the implementation of advanced technology such as E-daakhil, cases are being resolved faster than ever before. The Department of Consumer Affairs has also organized regional workshops and sector-specific brainstorming sessions, addressing case pendency issues and seeking efficient solutions.

To sustain this momentum, the Department has made E-daakhil compulsory for filing cases in consumer commissions and is soon launching a video conferencing feature on the platform. Harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Department aims to reduce case pendency by using AI for case analysis, generating case summaries, and taking further actions for timely resolution.

NCDRC and the Department of Consumer Affairs remain committed to enhancing consumer protection and expeditious redressal, ensuring that consumers’ voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
