Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has informed that Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India is implementing the restructured National Bamboo Mission (NBM) from the year 2018-19 in 23 States including States of the North-East Region (NER). NBM has components for establishing product development and processing units. So far, 208 numbers of product development and processing units have been established under National Bamboo Mission (NBM) in NER from 2018-19 to 2021-22 (as on 11.03.2022). State-wise details of product development and processing units established under National Bamboo Mission (NBM) in NER is at Annexure-I.

NBM provides financial assistance for Research & Development (R&D) activities. Details of Research & Development (R&D) activities carried out during 2018-19 to 2021-22 in NER is at Annexure-Il.

To make available quality planting material for bamboo plantation, nurseries are established under National Bamboo Mission. So far, the 14 hi-tech, 95 big and 53 small nurseries have been established under the restructured National Bamboo Mission (NBM) in the NER from 2018-19 to 2021-22.
