Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy, is currently on an official five-day visit to India, spanning from September 12 to September 16, 2023. During this visit, he has a series of meetings planned with key Indian officials, including the Chief of the Defence Staff, Chief of the Naval Staff, Defence Secretary, and Foreign Secretary, among others.
Admiral Hassan commenced his visit by paying his respects at the National War Memorial on September 13, 2023. Following this, he held discussions with Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, at the South Block, where he received a ceremonial Guard of Honour. These discussions primarily revolved around enhancing cooperation in various areas such as operations, training, information exchange, and participation in multilateral initiatives.
The bilateral interactions between the two naval leaders are expected to cover a range of cooperation issues, including coordinated patrols along the International Maritime Boundary Line, the bilateral exercise BONGOSAGAR, naval training initiatives, and reciprocal visits of delegations.
Upon concluding his engagements in New Delhi, Admiral M Nazmul Hassan is scheduled to visit Mumbai, where he will interact with the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command and also have the opportunity to visit an indigenously constructed Indian Naval Ship.
