PIB News Update: Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal has informed that The number of AC III tier coaches in service as on 31st March, 2019 on Indian Railways is 7329.
The number of coaches including AC-III tier coaches, in the composition of trains depends, inter-alia, on factors like traffic pattern, schedule of train etc. further, the composition of a large number of trains such as unreserved trains, Antyodaya Express Train, Day time Intercity Trains, Shatabdi Express Trains does not include AC-III Tier Class.
The number of AC-III tier coaches manufactured by the Production Units of Indian Railways are as follows:-

The production of AC-III tier coaches, has been scaled up in the last five years, as is evident from the above given table.
