Mansukh Mandaviya virtually addresses Centenary Celebrations of Andhra Medical College

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, virtually delivered the inaugural address at the centenary celebrations of Andhra Medical College. During the event, he also laid the foundation stone for a 50-bedded Critical Care Block in Andhra Medical College. Smt. Vidadala Rajini, Minister for Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, was also present at the event.

Dr. Mandaviya congratulated Andhra Medical College for its 100 years of service and highlighted its status as the largest medical college in Andhra Pradesh, known for its super-specialty and various facilities. He acknowledged the institution’s illustrious alumni who have excelled in fields such as politics, sports, administration, and medical sciences.

The Union Minister encouraged students to maintain a performance-oriented work culture to provide the highest quality healthcare to patients. He emphasized the importance of clarity in goals and the role of centuries-old traditions in leading balanced lives.

Dr. Mandaviya mentioned the government’s vision to establish one medical college in every district of India, increase the number of undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats, improve healthcare infrastructure, and support the manufacturing of medical devices. He also noted the increase in the number of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from 6 in 2014 to 22 at present. The Union Minister emphasized the government’s focus on making healthcare more accessible and affordable, not only for Indian citizens but also for medical tourists from abroad. Dr. Mandaviya expressed the Ministry’s commitment to support Andhra Medical College in its efforts to become a highly reputed hospital of the highest quality.

The 50-bedded Critical Care Unit at Andhra Medical College, constructed with central government funds, will be a state-of-the-art facility for critically ill patients, with a modern laboratory run by the Department of Anaesthesia, Andhra Medical College & King George Hospital. The facility will be staffed by the National Health Mission of the Government of India.
