Shri Manish Tiwari IRTS (1995) has been appointed as Joint Secretary- WDRA (Warehousing Development & Regulatory Authority), under the Department of Food & Public Distribution for a tenure upto the date of his superannuation on 30.09.2029 vice Shri Anirudh Kumar IRSME (1995) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet at Joint Secretary Level (Level 14).
The Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) functions under the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. Established in 2010, the WDRA aims to develop and regulate the warehousing sector and implement the Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (NWR) system. This system enables farmers, traders, and stakeholders to store their produce safely and use warehouse receipts as collateral for credit, thereby strengthening the rural economy.
WDRA is responsible for registering warehouses, ensuring scientific storage practices, and maintaining transparency in the warehousing ecosystem. It plays a crucial role in reducing post-harvest losses, stabilizing agricultural markets, and empowering farmers through improved access to institutional finance.
A key institution within the Indian Bureaucracy, the WDRA enhances India’s agricultural infrastructure and supports the government’s mission of rural prosperity. Through modernization and digitization, it continues to contribute significantly to India’s agri-logistics and warehousing reforms under the Indian Bureaucracy framework.
