(Food Corporation of India), under the Department of Food & Public Distribution for a tenure of five years vice Shri Manoj Kumar Jain IRAS (2000) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet at Joint Secretary Level (Level 14).
The Food Corporation of India (FCI), established in 1965 under the Food Corporations Act, operates under the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. FCI plays a pivotal role in ensuring India’s food security by procuring food grains at minimum support prices (MSP), maintaining buffer stocks, and distributing food grains across the nation through the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Headquartered in New Delhi, FCI coordinates with state governments and various agencies to stabilize food prices and ensure timely supply to consumers, especially during crises. It also contributes to market intervention to protect farmers’ interests and ensure equitable distribution of essential commodities.
Through modernization and digitization of its storage and distribution systems, FCI continues to strengthen India’s food management framework, playing an instrumental role in achieving the government’s goal of food self-sufficiency and efficient governance under the Indian Bureaucracy.
Indian Bureaucracy Network wishes Shri Lokesh Kumar Sharma the very best.
