He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 2009 and began his career with foundational training, followed by his first field posting as Assistant Collector and Additional District Magistrate in Khagaria, Bihar. In this early role, he gained hands-on exposure to land revenue management, law and order, and sub-divisional administration, laying a firm base for his future responsibilities.
His subsequent tenure in Rohtas district as Deputy Development Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, first in Junior Scale and later in the Senior Scale, placed him at the heart of rural governance. Here, Shri Ramachandrudu worked closely with Panchayati Raj institutions, focusing on local development planning, implementation of flagship schemes, and coordination between elected bodies and the district administration. This phase strengthened his understanding of decentralized governance and grassroots service delivery.

From December 2015 to April 2018, Shri Ramachandrudu served as Director, Primary Education, Bihar, where he was associated with policy implementation and administrative oversight in the education sector. This role expanded his engagement with human development issues, particularly in improving access, monitoring delivery mechanisms, and strengthening institutional frameworks in primary education.
Since April 2018, he has been serving as Additional Secretary, Disaster Management, Bihar, a role of continuing relevance given the state’s vulnerability to floods and other natural calamities. In this capacity, he has been involved in disaster preparedness, mitigation planning, relief coordination, and post-disaster rehabilitation. His long association with this department reflects continuity, institutional memory, and the trust reposed in his ability to manage high-stakes, time-sensitive responsibilities.
At the national level, Shri Ramachandrudu has made significant contributions in the domain of census and demographic administration. He was appointed Director (Census Operations), Bihar, under the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, initially at the Deputy Secretary equivalent level in August 2022.
