Ms. Lavanya Mundayur presently General Manager- the New India Assurance Company Limited (NIACL) has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) in Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited up to the date of her attaining the age of superannuation (i.e. 31.05.2029).
Ms. Lavanya Mundayur is a distinguished leader in the insurance industry, known for her groundbreaking achievements both in India and internationally. A postgraduate in Analytical Chemistry and a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai, she has also earned a reinsurance specialist qualification from the Singapore College of Insurance. With over three decades of professional experience, Mrs. Mundayur has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic capabilities.
In April 2021, she became the first woman from New India Assurance to head a GCC operation, taking charge as the Chief of Dubai operations. Prior to this, as the Head of New India’s Bengaluru Region, she successfully guided the company to market leadership in Karnataka, achieving record-breaking business growth and profitability. Her tenure heading the Large Corporate and Brokers Office in Mumbai further underscored her ability to manage complex operations, as she worked closely with some of India’s largest business houses.
Her international expertise includes leading the specialist marine and legal division at India International Insurance in Singapore, where she oversaw a global portfolio encompassing the UK and Europe. This role highlighted her proficiency in handling specialized insurance sectors, contributing to India International’s position as the second-largest marine insurer in Singapore at the time.
Throughout her career, Ms. Mundayur has excelled in numerous leadership roles, demonstrating remarkable turnaround skills in both retail and specialist offices across India. She is a strong advocate for diversity, embracing challenging assignments with numerous “firsts” to her credit. Her ability to combine technical expertise with strategic vision has established her as a pioneering figure in the global insurance landscape.
