Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, along with Shri Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Gen. V.K Singh (Rtd.), the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Road Transport and Highways, inaugurated a new Civil Enclave with an enhanced passenger capacity at Kanpur Airport.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and highlighted the development taking place in Uttar Pradesh under his leadership. He emphasized the importance of respecting the rich culture and history of the land, citing the new terminal building at Kanpur Airport, which incorporates engravings of ancient temples in Kanpur.

He set a target for the state, stating that Uttar Pradesh aims to have one airport at almost every commissionerate level in the future.

Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, in his inaugural address, praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the development of civil aviation in Uttar Pradesh. He mentioned the significant infrastructure development in the state, with the number of operational airports increasing from 6 in 2014 to 9 at present. He also highlighted the upcoming airports in Jhansi, Jewar, Ayodhya, and other regions, which will bring the total count of airports to 22. The Minister attributed this transformation to the cooperation and vision of the government in making air travel accessible and affordable for all.

Gen. V.K Singh (Rtd.) commended the modernization of the Kanpur Terminal and its increased capacity. He mentioned that the airport can now handle more than 200 passengers, compared to the previous capacity of 50 passengers. The new terminal building spans an area of 6243 sqm and includes features such as check-in counters, conveyor belts, concessionaire areas, and parking spaces.

The key features of the new terminal building at Kanpur Airport include its larger size, increased passenger capacity, check-in counters, conveyor belts for baggage handling, retail and dining options, accessibility provisions, ample parking spaces, and sustainability features such as a double insulated roofing system, rainwater harvesting, water treatment plant, solar power plant, and a national green building rating.

Overall, the inauguration of the new terminal building at Kanpur Airport signifies the growth and development of civil aviation infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
