Shri Justice M Duraiswamy presently senior-most Judge of the Madras High Court has been appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, with effect from 13.09.2022 consequent upon superannuation of Shri Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, Chief Justice, Madras High Court.

Born on 22.09.1960, Shri M Duraiswamy completed B.Com degree, did B.L., degree in Madras Law College and enrolled as an Advocate in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on 21.01.1987. He worked as Junior under  Justice A S Venkatachalamoorthy, former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court. Shri M Duraiswamy practiced as an Advocate in the Madras High Court.  He was appointed as Central Government Standing Counsel for the period 1997-2000 and was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Madras on 31.03.2009 and appointed as the Judge of the High Court of Madras on 29.03.2011.
