Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, and Chairman, North Eastern Council (NEC), Dr Jitendra Singh will release the NEC Coffee Table Book, 2016 “North Eastern Council: A Story of Sagacity and Success” at a function here tomorrow.
Brought out for commemorating the 65th Plenary (May 26-27, 2016) of the NEC, M/o DoNER, Government of India, Shillong, Meghalaya, the book portrays the achievements of the NEC engaged in all round development of the North-Eastern Region (NER).
NEC, set up in 1971 as a Regional Advisory Body under the North Eastern Council Act, 1971, has been transformed into a Regional Planning Body in 2002. In the recent years, the NEC has been instrumental in successful execution of Government of India’s regional plans for the NER.
