PIB News Update:Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Rattan Lal Kataria has informed that in August, 2019, Government of India,,in partnership with the States, has launched Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) which aims at providing potable water at service level of 55 litre per capita per day (lpcd) to every rural household through Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) by 2024.
The estimated outlay of JJM is Rs.3.60 lakh Crore out of which Central share is Rs. 2.08 lakh Crore.
The estimated amount of Rs. 3.60 lakh Crore is proposed to be shared between the Union and State Governments. In addition,to enable individuals, trusts, foundations, corporate and industrial houses to contribute in furthering the objective of the JJM, Rashtriya Jal Jeevan Kosh is being set up.
