REC Ltd Commits 2.92 Crore for ITBP Medical Infrastructure

Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, December 30, 2024| In a significant move aimed at strengthening healthcare services, REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a prominent Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The agreement, signed today, involves a financial commitment of ₹2.92 crore for the procurement of essential medical equipment and items for ITBP field hospitals spread across several locations.

The REC Foundation’s project will significantly enhance healthcare services for ITBP personnel, their families, ex-Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) members, and civilian populations in regions such as Leh, Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh), Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). Benefiting approximately 150,000 people, this initiative aims to reduce patient wait times, improve critical care, and ensure continuity of essential services. By introducing advanced medical technology into ITBP field hospitals, the project will improve healthcare delivery in remote and high-altitude regions, enhancing diagnostics, patient care, and medical interventions. This is especially vital in areas with significant challenges, such as Naxalite-affected zones, ensuring better health outcomes for both personnel and local communities.

The signing ceremony featured remarks from Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director of CSR at REC, who emphasised the significance of the initiative. “By addressing the unique healthcare needs of these regions, we are not only supporting the brave ITBP personnel but also fostering a healthier, more resilient community. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of those who serve and protect us, as well as the communities they live in, making a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of these often-overlooked areas,” he stated.

REC Foundation has executed over 400 projects spanning healthcare, sanitation, clean water access, education, skill development, women empowerment, sports, and environmental sustainability. With more than Rs. 1,300 Crore disbursed in CSR funds and a cumulative CSR commitment exceeding Rs. 2,000 Crore, REC continues to set benchmarks in nation-building through its far-reaching and transformative initiatives.
