The 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation meeting (CEM14/MI-8) is scheduled to take place in Goa from July 19th to 22nd, 2023. This event will coincide with the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting and will be held under the theme “Advancing Clean Energy Together.” The CEM14/MI-8 meetings will bring together various stakeholders, including governments, international organizations, private sector entities, academia, researchers, and policymakers. The Ministerial plenaries are scheduled for July 21st, 2023, while the G20 Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting will be held back-to-back on July 22nd.
The overarching goal of the CEM14/MI-8 meetings is to accelerate the deployment of clean energy by fostering the development of policies, programs, and technologies worldwide. Through high-level roundtables, side events, and technology showcases, stakeholders will collaborate to advance clean energy solutions and promote innovation in various fields. During the event, discussions will focus on important topics such as the adoption of green hydrogen, international trade standards for green hydrogen, and global efforts towards a sustainable and climate-friendly world. The meetings aim to encourage collaboration, explore alternatives, and develop strategies to address the challenges posed by climate change and promote a secure and sustainable future.

The Power Minister emphasized that the Clean Energy Ministerial forum offers an opportunity to convene the global clean energy community and showcase a wide spectrum of clean energy innovation and deployment. He highlighted India’s significant progress in renewable energy capacity addition and emission intensity reduction, reiterating India’s commitment to energy transition and climate action. The Minister also emphasized the need for free and open trade to achieve global sustainability goals and urged cooperation and innovation to address climate-related challenges.
The Science and Technology Minister emphasized that the challenges of climate change require collective efforts beyond borders and individual actions. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to a low carbon future and its aim to transform the country’s energy landscape through accelerated clean energy innovation.
