Shri Gurdeep Singh, MD – Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited has taken charge as the CMD for NTPC.

Shri Singh is a mechanical engineer with over 28 years of experience. Joining NTPC in 1987 as a Dy Superintendent and has headed PowerGen as their Production Head, Business Head and MD for AES , Director-Power for IDFC Projects and President -Power for CESC.

Shri Singh will be the first person to be appointed to the top job at a Maharatna company through a search committee route, normally Government headhunters,the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) selects board appointees to state-owned firms. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Shri Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Singh for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post.

GSECL received Prime Minister Award for “Excellence in Public Administration” – Extraordinary Initiatives by State Companies/Officials in the field of Public Administration Award under the guidance of Shri Gurdeep Singh, MD GSECL .
