Shri Gaya Prasad ISS (1996) has been appointed as Joint Secretary- Ministry of Home
Affairs for a tenure upto the date of his superannuation on 31.07.2028 vice Shri Mihir
Kumar IDAS (1996) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet at Joint Secretary Level (Level 14).
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), one of the most pivotal arms of the Government of India, is responsible for maintaining internal security, public order, and national integration. Within this structure, the Joint Secretary holds a crucial position, steering multiple divisions such as internal security, border management, disaster response, and center–state relations.
As part of the Indian Bureaucracy, the Joint Secretary in MHA ensures seamless coordination between central and state governments, formulates strategic policies, and oversees the implementation of vital programs impacting governance and public safety. The role demands administrative acumen, crisis management skills, and a deep understanding of India’s security framework.
Through their leadership, the Ministry continues to safeguard national interests, promote harmony, and reinforce the administrative strength that drives India’s governance architecture and internal resilience.
