Ms. Hema Jaiswal ISS (2004) has been appointed as Executive Director- FCI (Food
Corporation of India), under the Department of Food & Public Distribution for a tenure of five years vice Shri Akhilesh Misra IRSME (1995) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet at Joint Secretary Level (Level 14).
The Food Corporation of India (FCI), established in 1965 under the Food Corporations Act, operates under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. Headquartered in New Delhi, FCI plays a vital role in ensuring India’s food security by procuring food grains from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP), maintaining buffer stocks, and distributing grains through the Public Distribution System (PDS). It also manages the movement and storage of food grains across the country, ensuring timely supply to all regions, including remote areas.
As a cornerstone of India’s agricultural and food management policy, FCI supports farmers by providing assured markets and stabilizing prices. Over the decades, it has contributed significantly to the nation’s self-sufficiency in food production. Within the framework of the Indian Bureaucracy, FCI exemplifies efficient coordination between the government and the agricultural sector, upholding national food security and economic stability.
Indian Bureaucracy Network wishes Ms. Hema Jaiswal the very best.
