Shri Ganesh Shankar Mishra IAS (Madhya Pradesh 2010) has been empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre.

Shri Ganesh Shankar Mishra, IAS, is a distinguished civil servant of the Madhya Pradesh cadre known for his strong technical foundation, global academic exposure, and extensive administrative experience across energy, finance, rural development, and district governance. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with First position from Jabalpur Engineering College under Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya. He also earned a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with First Class with Distinction from Government Engineering College, Jabalpur, affiliated to the same university. Further strengthening his academic credentials, he completed an M.Sc. in Development Management with First Class with Distinction from University College London, equipping him with global perspectives on development policy, public systems, and institutional management.

Currently, Shri Mishra serves as Director (Director Equivalent) at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions (February 27, 2024 – February 26, 2029). In this premier civil services training institution, he is involved in personnel training, administrative capacity building, and shaping the next generation of civil servants. His role contributes significantly to strengthening governance standards and institutional leadership within the Indian Bureaucracy.

Prior to his central deputation, Shri Mishra held key leadership roles in the energy sector in Madhya Pradesh. He served as Managing Director of M.P. Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited, Bhopal (April 12, 2021 – February 8, 2024), and concurrently as Managing Director of Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company Limited. In these capacities, he oversaw electricity distribution, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and service delivery improvements across the central region of the state. His tenure in the power sector demonstrated his ability to manage large public utilities, infrastructure systems, and reform-oriented initiatives.

Earlier, he served as Officer on Special Duty (Deputy Secretary) in the Department of Finance (Institutional Finance), Bhopal (September 30, 2020 – April 12, 2021), contributing to financial policy matters and institutional financing frameworks. He also worked as Deputy Secretary in the Jail Department, Madhya Pradesh (June 17, 2019 – September 29, 2020), where he dealt with administrative and correctional system management issues.

Shri Mishra has significant field administration experience. He served as District Collector of Sehore (December 24, 2018 – June 16, 2019) and District Collector of Alirajpur (November 1, 2016 – December 23, 2018), managing land revenue administration, law and order, public welfare schemes, and district development initiatives. Prior to that, he was Additional Collector in Harda (September 22, 2014 – October 31, 2016) and Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Harda (August 12, 2013 – September 22, 2014), where he played a key role in rural development programs and local governance strengthening.

In the early phase of his career, Shri Mishra served as Sub-Divisional Officer and Chief Election Officer (Sub Division) in Betul (2012–2013), and as Assistant Collector in Singrauli (2011–2012), building strong grassroots administrative experience. He began his IAS journey with professional training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie (2010–2011), laying the foundation for a career characterized by technical competence and governance innovation.

With a blend of engineering precision, development management expertise, and broad administrative exposure, Shri Ganesh Shankar Mishra continues to contribute to public service through leadership in training, infrastructure management, financial governance, and district administration, reinforcing institutional excellence and reform-driven governance.
