New Delhi, August 2025 – In a significant development aimed at ensuring continuity and efficiency in the leadership of key government institutions, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension in temporary upgradation of several important posts. The following senior officers have been granted extensions in their upgraded positions:
Shri Sriram Taranikanti IAS (Tripura 1992) – The ACC has approved the extension in upgradation of the post of Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) from the level of Additional Secretary to that of Secretary, for a term up to 31st July 2026. Shri Taranikanti’s leadership at the nation’s premier training institution for civil servants has been marked by innovation, academic rigour, and a focus on moulding future administrators with integrity and efficiency. His extended tenure is expected to further strengthen LBSNAA’s vision of nurturing officers who embody public service values.
Shri Shahi Ranjan Kumar IAS (Tripura 1992) – The ACC has approved the extension in upgradation of the post of Secretary, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) from the level of Additional Secretary to that of Secretary, for a term up to 3rd September 2026. Known for his sharp administrative acumen and deep understanding of recruitment and examination processes, Shri Kumar has been instrumental in ensuring transparency and fairness in UPSC’s operations. His continued leadership will support the Commission’s mandate of selecting the finest talent for the nation’s civil services.
Shri Sanjay Rastogi IAS (Odisha 1991) – The ACC has approved the extension in upgradation of the post of Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor to the level of Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, for a term up to 11th August 2026. Shri Rastogi’s stewardship in managing fiscal policies for sports and youth development initiatives has contributed to the sector’s steady growth. His extended tenure is likely to accelerate ongoing programmes aimed at nurturing sports talent and promoting youth engagement nationwide.
Shri Nitishwar Kumar IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1996) – The ACC has approved the extension in upgradation of the post of Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor to the level of Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Women & Child Development, for a term up to 30th September 2026. Shri Kumar has played a vital role in ensuring that financial frameworks effectively support schemes and programmes for the welfare of women and children. His experience and commitment will be crucial in advancing the Ministry’s mission of empowerment and protection of vulnerable sections.
Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha IRAS (1997) – The ACC has approved the extension in upgradation of the post of Joint Secretary to the level of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), for a term up to 9th August 2026. Shri Sinha’s work in driving technology-led governance reforms and digital initiatives has been noteworthy. His continued leadership is expected to contribute significantly to India’s digital transformation journey.
