Shri Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLC, while delivering his Chief Guest address in the concluding day of Communal Harmony Week, 2015 function held at Learning and Development Center, Neyveli , spelled-out to develop tolerance towards others, promote harmony, besides conserve natural resources. GOI has declared 19-25.11.2015, be celebrated as Communal Harmony Campaign Week. Each day being celebrated as Weaker Section Day, Women Empowerment Day etc. The last day being observed as Conservation Day.

Shri S.K. Acharya, said that conserving the natural resources would benefit the society, especially for the younger generation to a greater extent, Conservation should be seen on a broader spectrum like conserving our heritage and buildings (Monuments). NLC’s efforts in restoring ecology in the mined out areas and its environmental control measures were very much appreciated by the Parliamentary Committee on Coal and Steel, in the recently concluded meeting at New Delhi, he added. People first, next comes the Planet, then only comes the Profit, because people’s interest must all be given top priority as without mankind, there cannot be any society nor development. He appealed to one and all to develop tolerance, promote harmony think progressive and be proactive.

Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance), NLC presided over the function. He appealed to one and all to reduce use of electricity by 10%. Felicitations were extended by Functional Directors, Shri S. Boopathy, Shri Subir Das and Shri V. Thangapandian. Earlier Shri Md. Dawood, DGM/L&DC welcomed the gathering. A cultural event involving school children was organized on this occasion. Senior officials, employees, children and public to a larger extent participated.
