During the second and third weeks of the implementation phase of Special Campaign 3.0, the Ministry of Coal and its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have executed various activities identified during the campaign’s preparatory phase.

The Ministry has successfully freed approximately 50,59,012 square feet of area by disposing of scrap, resulting in a revenue generation of Rs. 28.79 crore. A total of 1,08,469 physical files were reviewed, with 8,088 old files being weeded out. Additionally, 29,993 E-files have been closed online after reviewing 80,305 E-files.

Best Initiatives: As part of their commitment to the campaign, the PSUs under the Ministry have undertaken some noteworthy initiatives:

  1. Plastic to Paver: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has taken steps to address the issue of single-use plastic waste by setting up a Solid Waste Management unit. This initiative involved efficient waste collection from the Bankola Area Colony, segregation of various waste types, and the innovative transformation of plastic waste into valuable resources. ECL’s Plastic Waste Handling Unit in Bankola Area has converted discarded plastics into paver blocks and bricks, thus contributing to waste management and resource generation.
  2. Rainwater Harvesting: New initiatives have been introduced under Special Campaign 3.0, including the construction of rainwater harvesting structures at various areas.
  3. Cleanliness Drive: A successful cleanliness drive took place at 62 locations, with enthusiastic participation from all stakeholders.
  4. Garden Development: The beautiful garden at Jagannath Area Regional Store under Jagannath Area of MCL was developed using scrap materials.
  5. Children’s Park: CMPDI, Regional Institute-2, Dhanbad, beautified Quarter No. -D 15, Sector-3, Koyla Nagar, Dhanbad. The front area of D-15 (GYM), Sector -3, Koyala Nagar, Dhanbad, has been transformed into a children’s park with installed swings.

The Special Campaign 3.0 promotes best practices in waste management and serves as an inspiring example for others to follow.
