Chennai International airport received the Tamil Nadu Tourism Award – 2016 in the category of ‘Best Tourist Friendly Airport’ on 24.03.2017. This award is conferred by Madura Welcome, a tourist guide book company, in association with Incredible India, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Airport Director Shri G Chandramouli along with Shri Anil Garg, Dy. Airport Director, AAI, received the award from Shri Thiru. K. Bhagyaraj noted film director from Tamil Nadu Film Industry. This is the second time in a row that Chennai Airport has received the honour for the ‘Best Tourist Friendly Airport’.
Chennai Airport is the fourth busiest airport in India. It is the gateway to Southern India and major hub for southern Region. 29 international airlines and 08 domestic airlines are operating from Chennai airport which connects 15 International and 25 Domestic cities respectively. It serves passengers not only from Tamil Nadu but also from the neighbouring states like Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
