Shri Ch Hari Krishna Reddy IRS (C&IT 2013) presently Deputy Secretary- Central Water Commission under the D/o Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation has been given extension for a period of two years beyond 12.10.2025 and upto 12.10.2027 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. Shri Ch Hari Krishna Reddy counts his central deputation w.e.f. 13.10.2021.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) is a premier technical organization under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India. Established in 1945, the CWC is responsible for initiating, coordinating, and advancing policies, programs, and schemes related to the development and management of water resources in the country. It plays a crucial role in flood control, irrigation, hydroelectric power, and water conservation. The Commission also provides technical guidance for inter-state river basin management, hydrological data collection, and project appraisal. Headquartered in New Delhi, the CWC is headed by a Chairman, assisted by three Members responsible for Water Planning & Projects, River Management, and Designs & Research. Through its extensive field organizations and expert teams, the CWC ensures the optimal and sustainable utilization of India’s water resources, contributing significantly to national growth, environmental balance, and disaster resilience.
