The Government of India conducted Special Campaign 2.0 for Swachhata in government offices and addressing pending matters from October 2, 2022, to October 31, 2022. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and subordinate offices of the Income Tax Department actively participated in this campaign.

In the aftermath of Special Campaign 2.0, CBDT decided to continue its efforts to resolve public grievances. Between December 2022 and July 2023, the department resolved over 46,000 public grievances on the CPGRAMS portal and processed approximately 7,000 grievance appeals.

During Special Campaign 2.0, a new initiative called “HARIT Aaykar” (Hariyali Achievement Resolution by Income Tax Department) was launched to increase green cover. This initiative involved planting micro forests near the India-Pakistan border and encouraging officers and officials to create green spaces and micro-forests around Income Tax Department buildings and public areas.

As part of the HARIT Aaykar campaign, 103 micro forests were established across India, covering an area of more than 1.5 lakh sq.ft. The department promoted these efforts through its official social media accounts, averaging about four tweets per month with the hashtag #HARIT_Aaykar. Additionally, the department started welcoming dignitaries at official events with potted plants or biodegradable flower arrangements.

The CBDT is now preparing for Special Campaign 3.0, scheduled to commence on October 2, 2023, to further promote cleanliness, resolve public grievances, and enhance green initiatives in government offices.
