Shri Ashwani Kumar IAS (Assam Meghalaya 2010) upon his return has been appointed as the Director – Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication (DITEC), Assam, a Joint Secretary Level position.
Shri Kumar relieves the present Special Secretary Information Technology Department and Director, Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication (DITEC), Assam Shri K S P V Pavan Kumar IFoS (Assam Meghalaya 1992) who has been transferred and appointed as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Afforestation), Assam.
The Department of DITEC is responsible for enhancing Assam’s IT infrastructure and align with the broader digital transformation initiatives of the central and state governments. With the increasing adoption of digital technologies in public service delivery, including PDS, education, and healthcare, Shri Ashwani Kumar, an Electrical Engineer from IIT Madras, will be responsible for optimising the IT operations and enhancing service efficiency. He will also spearhead e-governance initiatives and leverage technology to facilitate seamless government-to-citizen interactions, along with bringing new investments into the IT sector, including setting up IT parks and ESDM clusters.
He will also oversee the implementation of the state’s IT policies, laws, and cybersecurity measures to ensure a strong and secure digital infrastructure.
Shri Ashwani Kumar was previously the Private Secretary (PS) to Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), GoI, New Delhi and JS – Urban Development in the cadre.
