Ms. Aryaka Akhoury IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2013) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years.
Ms. Aryaka Akhoury, an accomplished IAS officer, reflects a fine blend of academic excellence and administrative competence. A graduate of the University of Delhi’s Miranda House with a B.Sc. in Botany (First Division), she further strengthened her academic foundation with an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Department of Plant Molecular Biology, University of Delhi, also securing a First Division. This strong scientific grounding has subtly informed her analytical and evidence-based approach to governance.
Over the years, Ms. Akhoury has built a diverse administrative portfolio across key sectors. Currently serving as Special Secretary (Deputy Secretary equivalent) in the Health & Family Welfare Department, Lucknow, she plays a crucial role in shaping public health administration. Her tenure reflects a steady rise through the ranks, marked by impactful field and secretariat experience.
As District Magistrate and Collector of Ghazipur and earlier Bhadohi, she demonstrated strong district leadership, effectively handling land revenue management and administrative responsibilities. Her time as Chief Development Officer in Meerut further highlighted her commitment to rural development and grassroots governance. Earlier roles, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Varanasi and Assistant Secretary in the Drinking Water & Sanitation sector at the Centre, contributed to her well-rounded administrative exposure.
