On May 18th, the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) approved the training proposals of shooters Ganemat Sekhon and Gurjoat Singh under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). Ganemat, who recently won a gold medal in the mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, is ranked as India’s number one in the Women’s Skeet event. She will undergo an 11-day training program in Bari, Italy, under the guidance of Italian coach Piero Genga. On the other hand, Gurjoat will train for 10 days at TAV Falco in Capua, Italy, under coach Ennio Falco.
The financial assistance provided under the scheme will cover various expenses such as coaching fees, range fees, ammunition costs, travel and lodging expenses, local transportation costs, and other necessary expenses related to their training. The aim of this support is to aid their preparation for the upcoming ISSF World Championship and Asian Games, which are scheduled to be held later this year.
