Shri Ajit Kumar Chowdhary presently General Manager, Northern Coalfields Ltd has been appointed for the post of Director(Technical), Western Coalfields Ltd. Shri Chowdhary, who has more than 34 years of experience in the field of opencast and underground coal mining, has been the General Manager of Jayant and Amlohri coal areas of NCL before taking over as the General Manager of Nigahi Area. Under his leadership, these areas have registered phenomenal growth in terms of production and productivity. Earlier, he has served in CCL and CMPDI and during his tenure at CCL, he had been the General Manager of the Rajarappa Project.
Shri Chowdhary started his services in 1984 as a mining engineer in Coal India Limited after completing B.Tech studies in Mining Engineering from ISM Dhanbad in 1984. Shri Chowdhary, who believes in honing his academic abilities, completed his M.Tech in Opencast Mining from Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad in 1989 and also obtained Masters of Science degree in Mining Engineering from American University of Southern Illinois in year 1992. Shri Chowdhary is also a Law Graduate. Shri Chowdhary is a life time member of the Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI). He is also a fellow of Institution of Engineers (India). He is also a member of the US Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME).
