Shri Ajay Tirkey IAS (Madhya Pradesh 1987) assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) in place of Shri Rabindra Panwar who retired on superannuation . Before assuming the charge of Secretary, Shri Tirkey had been holding the post of Special Secretary in the same Ministry.
He has handled important portfolios like Joint Secretary – Department of School Education and Literacy in the HRD Ministry, Additional Secretary – Ministry of Women & Child Development, Director & Jt Secy -MoD , Principal Secretary – Governor of Madhya Pradesh from 2015 to 2017 and has extensive experience of handling portfolios like Medical Education, Labour & Employment and Rural Development in his home cadre appointments. He has been MD – State Cooperative Marketing Federation (Markfed), Madhya Pradesh. He was also the District Collector of Sidhi, Hoshangabad and Raipur.
