The President of India has approved the appointment of several distinguished officers of the State Civil Service (SCS) of Madhya Pradesh to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), under the provisions of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954 and in accordance with Rule 5(1) of the IAS (Cadre) Rules, 1954. These appointments, made against vacancies determined by the Government of India in consultation with the State Government, relate to the year-wise Select Lists of 2023 and 2024. All the selected officers will serve on probation until further orders and will be allocated to the Madhya Pradesh cadre of the IAS.

The Select List of 2023 has been prepared against vacancies arising between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2023. From this list, eight officers of the Madhya Pradesh State Civil Service have been appointed to the IAS. They are Shri Narayan Prasad Namdeo SCS, Shri Dr. Kailash Bundela SCS, Shri Nanda Bhalave Kushre SCS, Shri Anil Kumar Damor SCS, Ms. Savita Jhaniya SCS, Ms. Sarika Bhuriya SCS, Shri Kamal Solanki SCS and Shri Jitendra Singh Chouhan SCS. Each of these officers has an impressive track record of service in various administrative roles, and their induction into the IAS marks a recognition of their sustained contributions to governance at the grassroots and district levels.

Similarly, the Select List of 2024 has been drawn up against vacancies arising between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2024. Another eight officers from the State Civil Service have been elevated to the IAS. The officers included in this list are Shri Santosh Kumar Tagore SCS, Ms. Nisha Damar SCS, Shri Rakesh Kushre SCS, Ms. Shaily Kanash SCS, Shri Rohan Saxena SCS, Ms. Kavita Batla SCS, Ms. Sapna Anurag Jain SCS and Shri Ashish Kumar Pathak SCS. This group represents a mix of seasoned and mid-career officers whose varied experience across departments will now contribute to policymaking and implementation at the state and national level.

The inclusion of these 16 officers in the Indian Administrative Service is a testament to the importance of the State Civil Service as a feeder channel to the IAS. Officers promoted through this route bring with them a wealth of administrative experience acquired in close interaction with the public. Having worked extensively in field postings such as district administration, rural development, health, education and social welfare, they possess first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by citizens at the grassroots. Their elevation to the IAS will strengthen the administrative structure of Madhya Pradesh by blending practical insights with broader policy responsibilities.

For Madhya Pradesh, this development comes at a crucial time when the state is pursuing rapid growth in infrastructure, industrial investment, rural development and welfare schemes. The newly inducted IAS officers are expected to play an important role in accelerating policy implementation and ensuring last-mile delivery of government programmes. Their service in the State Civil Service has already proven their capability and dedication, and their transition to the IAS cadre will give them a wider platform to contribute to governance.

The appointments also highlight the balanced representation of both male and female officers, reflecting the increasing diversity of leadership within the administrative structure. Officers like Ms. Savita Jhaniya SCS, Ms. Sarika Bhuriya SCS, Ms. Nisha Damar SCS, Ms. Shaily Kanash SCS, Ms. Kavita Batla SCS and Ms. Sapna Anurag Jain SCS bring with them a strong record of professional achievement and dedication. Their presence in the IAS cadre will add further strength to the inclusive governance framework of the state.

Overall, the elevation of these officers is not only a recognition of their individual excellence but also an institutional affirmation of the value of the State Civil Services. By inducting experienced and committed officers into the IAS, the Government ensures continuity of service, preservation of institutional memory, and a robust administrative structure capable of meeting future challenges. With this move, the Madhya Pradesh cadre of the IAS is poised to be further strengthened, paving the way for better governance and improved delivery of public services to the citizens of the state.
