10 IPS Appointments at the Centre | Indian Bureaucracy Exclusive

27.09.2025 | New Delhi – In a significant round of senior-level appointments, the Government of India has cleared the posting of 10 distinguished Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to key positions at the Centre, reflecting both recognition of their service and the importance of strengthening the country’s premier security institutions. These officers, drawn from the 1993 and 1994 batches, have been entrusted with critical responsibilities in organisations such as the CRPF, BSF, IB, NIA, and SSB.

The list includes Shri Zaki Ahmad (Uttar Pradesh 1993) who takes charge as Special DG, CRPF till his superannuation in 2028, and Shri Raja Srivastava (Uttar Pradesh 1994), Shri Amit Kumar (Bihar 1994), and Shri Deepak Kumar (Assam-Meghalaya 1994) who assume senior leadership roles in the CRPF. Shri Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal (Tamil Nadu 1994) has been appointed Special DG, BSF, while Shri Apte Vinayak Prabhakar, Shri Manmeet Singh Narang, and Shri Anurag Kumar, all from the 1994 batch, take up Special Director positions in the Intelligence Bureau. Shri Rakesh Aggarwal (Himachal Pradesh 1994) joins as Special DG, NIA, and Ms. Anupama Nilekar Chandra (Bihar 1994) as Special DG, SSB.

3. Shri Manmeet Singh Narang IPS (Madhya Pradesh 1994) presently Additional Director- IB as Special Director (Level-16 in the pay matrix), IB on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the posts of Addl Director held by him for a tenure of two years .
4. Shri Amit Kumar IPS (Bihar 1994) presently ADG – CRPF as Special Director General- CRPF (Level-16 in the pay matrix) till date of superannuation i.e. 31.10.2030 .
5. Shri Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal IPS (Tamil Nadu 1994) presently ADG- BSF as Special Director General- BSF(Level-16 in the pay matrix)  till date of superannuation i.e.
   31.03.2032 .
6. Shri Apte Vinayak Prabhakar IPS (Telangana 1994) presently Additional Director- IB as Special Director (Level-16 in the pay matrix), IB on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the posts of Addl Director held by him for a tenure of two years .
7. Shri Rakesh Aggarwal IPS (Himachal Pradesh 1994) presently ADG- NIA as Special
   Director General (Level-16 in the pay matrix) in NIA on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the post held by the officer for a tenure of two years .
8. Ms. Anupama Nilekar Chandra IPS (Bihar 1994) presently ADG- SSB as Special Director General (Level-16 in the pay matrix) in SSB on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the post held by the officer for a tenure of two years .
9. Shri Anurag Kumar IPS (AGMUT 1994) presently Additional Director- IB as Special Director (Level-16 in the pay matrix), IB on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the posts of Addl Director held by him for a tenure of two years .
10. Shri Deepak Kumar IPS (Assam Meghalaya 1994) presently ADG- CRPF as Special Director General (Level-16 in the pay matrix) in CRPF on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the post held by the officer for a tenure of two years.
