Shri Vivek Aggarwal IAS (Madhya Pradesh 1994)presently Additional Secretary, Department of Revenue, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Culture.

Shri Vivek Aggarwal, a seasoned Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has recently been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, bringing with him a distinguished record of service across key departments and sectors. A graduate in Commerce and Law with first-class credentials has consistently demonstrated administrative excellence and leadership throughout his career.

He began his civil service journey in 1996, serving as SDO in Gwalior and Tikamgarh, gradually moving through the ranks with impactful stints in rural development, district administration, and industries. His tenure as District Collector in Rajgarh, Ujjain, and Indore from 2004 to 2008 was marked by his proactive governance style and people-centric approach.

In the subsequent years, he took on strategic roles as Managing Director of various state industrial and agricultural marketing boards, showcasing his capabilities in developmental planning and execution. His appointment as Secretary to the Chief Minister and later as Principal Secretary underscored the trust reposed in his administrative insight and policy formulation acumen.

Shri Aggarwal’s transition to central ministries began with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, where he served as Joint Secretary and then Additional Secretary between 2019 and 2021. He was pivotal in driving major agricultural reforms and schemes. He later served in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, from 2021 to 2025, where he also held additional charge as Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit-India, reinforcing his expertise in fiscal governance and regulatory oversight.

Throughout his tenure, Shri Aggarwal has displayed a profound commitment to institutional excellence, governance reforms, and inclusive development. His latest assignment as Secretary, Ministry of Culture marks a new chapter in his illustrious career, as he takes the lead in preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.
