Shri Vipul IFS (1998) took up the charge as the new Consul General of Dubai. In a tweet today Mr Vipul said that he looks forward to contribute to India – UAE relations and welfare of the Indian Community.

Shri Vipul has succeeded Anurag Bhushan , who returned to New Delhi after a successful stint of three years to take up his assignment at the Headquarters.

Before joining the Consulate at Dubai , Mr Vipul was working in the office of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. He had earlier served at India’s diplomatic missions in Sri Lanka and Egypt. He has a good command over the Arabic language.

Dubai is recognized as the commercial capital and tourism centre of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Indians in UAE constitute one of the largest migrant populations estimated at 2.6 million people. India and UAE enjoy a strong bond of friendship based on age old cultural , religious and economic ties

UAE is a strategically important country for India in the Gulf region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to UAE in 2015 and Crown Prince Sheikh Zayed’s visit to New Delhi as the Chief Guest during the recently concluded Republic Day ceremony represent a common desire among the leadership between the two countries to enhance the existing bilateral relations.

Shri Vipul joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1998. He has served in Indian Missions in Cairo, Colombo and Geneva. In his diplomatic career he has dealt with diverse areas including political and commercial relations, development, disarmament, international security and media. For the past three years (2014-17), he worked with External Affairs Minister of India.

Shri Vipul did his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He also holds an MBA from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He is married to Kirti and they have a four-year old daughter.
