Urban Mobility India Conference & Exhibition 2023 comes to an end with Award Ceremony

The 16th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Exhibition 2023, the prominent event focusing on sustainable urban mobility solutions, concluded with its valedictory session. The event gathered distinguished personalities such as Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, and Shri Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.

During the conference, Secretary MoHUA, Shri Manoj Joshi, emphasized Transit Orientation Development (TOD), the adoption of smart cards like the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for seamless urban transport, efficient fare collection systems, innovative funding methods, public-private partnerships to meet urban transportation demands, and transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs) for emission reduction and urban EV infrastructure development.

The valedictory session also included the presentation of awards for “Excellence/Best Practice Projects in Urban Transport” to winning state/city authorities in various categories, recommended by the Awards Selection Committee and accepted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Notable awardees included:

  • Best Public Transport System: Srinagar Smart City Limited for Srinagar’s Multimodal Transport System project.
  • Most Innovative Financing Mechanism: Jabalpur City Transport Services Limited for their Financial Mechanism for Sustainable City Bus Services project.
  • Best Green Transport Initiative: Kochi Metro Rail Limited for their Kochi Water Metro project.

The 16th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Exhibition 2023 provided valuable insights into the future of urban transportation and recognized exemplary projects and initiatives in the field. The event brought together experts, stakeholders, and leaders from around the world to discuss the latest developments in sustainable urban mobility.

The accompanying exhibition showcased best practices in urban transport, the latest technologies, and services in the urban transport sector, featuring participation from 22 exhibitors, including Metro Rail Companies and public and private sectors.

This conference and exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs through the Institute of Urban Transport (India) with support from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of urban mobility in India and beyond.
