UGC gives full autonomy to 60 higher educational institutions

University Grant Commission (UGC) in a historic decision has accorded autonomy to 60 higher education institutions, which have maintained high academic standards.  Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar made this declaration in New Delhi . He stated, of 60 foundations, five are Central Universities, 21 State Universities, 24 regarded, two Private Universities and eight schools, which have been conceded self-rule under the Autonomous Colleges Regulation.

Mr Javadekar clarified that these colleges will stay inside the ambit of the UGC however will have the opportunity to begin new courses, off-grounds focuses, ability improvement courses, look into parks and some other new scholastic projects. They will likewise have the opportunity to procure outside personnel, enlist remote understudies, give motivator based remittances to the staff, go into scholarly joint efforts and run open separation learning programs.

The Minister said self-governance was given to these organizations, in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards changed administrative administration.

These Central Universities are Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi, Universty of Hyderabad, Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University and the English and Foreign Languages University in Telangana.

These State Universities incorporate Jadavpur University, Kolkata, NALSAR University of Law, Telangana, National Law University, Delhi and Utkal University Bhubaneswar.
