Shri Uday G Chaudhari IAS (Maharashtra 2010) has been empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Uday G Chaudhari, IAS is a seasoned Indian Administrative Service officer known for his strong technical-academic background and extensive administrative experience across district governance, rural development, cabinet affairs, and Union ministerial coordination. His career trajectory reflects the dynamic functioning of the Indian Bureaucracy, particularly in water resources governance and high-level policy support roles.
An engineering graduate, Shri Chaudhari completed his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering Pune under Savitribai Phule Pune University. He later pursued a Master of Arts in Economics from University of Mumbai, strengthening his understanding of public finance, development economics, and policy analysis. This blend of engineering precision and economic insight has shaped his balanced administrative approach.
He began his civil services journey with training from 2010 to 2012, followed by early field assignments in Maharashtra. As Assistant Collector in Aheri, he gained valuable exposure to sub-divisional administration and tribal region governance. Simultaneously, he served as Project Director of the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Aheri, contributing to tribal welfare and social justice initiatives.
Shri Chaudhari later served as Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad, Wardha (2014–2015) and Thane (2015–2016), where he led rural development and water conservation initiatives. His tenure focused on strengthening local self-government institutions and improving grassroots service delivery.
In June 2016, he was appointed District Collector and District Magistrate of Sindhudurg, a position he held until April 2018. He subsequently served as District Collector and District Magistrate of Aurangabad (2018–2020). In these roles, he oversaw land revenue management, district administration, disaster preparedness, and inter-departmental coordination, gaining recognition for administrative stability and effective governance.
In August 2020, he transitioned to the Chief Secretary’s Office in Mumbai as Deputy Secretary to the Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra. This assignment exposed him to high-level state administrative coordination and policy monitoring. From October 2021, Shri Chaudhari served as Private Secretary to the Minister in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, initially at Deputy Secretary Equivalent level and later elevated to Director rank in June 2024.
