TRAI initiates multiple consultations on Telecom Regulatory Amendments

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has initiated several consultations to gather input on proposed regulatory changes. These consultations include the release of the Draft Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (9th Amendment) Regulations, 2023, a Consultation Paper on Open and De-licensed use of Unused or Limited Used Spectrum Bands in the Tera Hertz Range for Demand Generation, and a Consultation Paper on Assignment of Spectrum in E&V Bands, along with Spectrum for Microwave Access (MWA) & Microwave Backbone (MWB). Interested stakeholders are encouraged to participate and provide feedback on these regulatory matters.

Regulation on Rating Framework for Digital Connectivity in Buildings or Areas –

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published a Consultation Paper on “Regulation on Rating Framework for Digital Connectivity in Buildings or Areas.” This paper addresses the growing importance of digital connectivity in daily life and its increased demand, especially during the pandemic. TRAI aims to establish a regulatory framework for Rating of Buildings or Areas for Digital Connectivity to enhance the quality of service within buildings and provide a seamless consumer experience. Stakeholders and telecom consumers are invited to provide feedback on this framework by November 10, 2023, with counter-comments accepted until November 24, 2023. The consultation paper and draft regulations are available on TRAI’s website.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a Consultation Paper on “Open and De-licensed use of Unused or Limited Used Spectrum Bands for Demand Generation for Limited Period in Terahertz Range.” This initiative follows a request from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) dated December 8, 2022. Stakeholders are invited to submit written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper by October 25, 2023, and counter-comments by November 8, 2023. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a Consultation Paper on the “Assignment of Spectrum in E&V Bands, and Spectrum for Microwave Access (MWA) & Microwave Backbone (MWB).” The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) requested recommendations on various aspects related to spectrum assignment, including reserve price, band plan, spectrum cap, and more.
