Shri Tarun Kapoor IAS (Himachal Pradesh 1987) presently Vice Chairman, Delhi Development Authority, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas upon superannuation of the present incumbent Shri M M Kutty IAS (UT 1985) on 30.04.2020.
Shri Kapoor has served as VC- DDA since 2018 and has managed many important portfolios including Jt Secy- M/o New & Renewable Energy, MD- Power Transmission Corp Ltd, Director- Energy Dept, HP, Jt Secy- Power Dept, HP, Chairman – State Electricity Board, DC-Shimla , DC- Land Revenue Mgmt & District Admn, Director (Personnel)- SJVN, Director- Panchayati Raj Dept, Special Secy- Youth Affairs & Sports, DC- Chamba and Additional Chief Secretary to HP Government to name a few.
He has done his Mid Career Programme for IAS Officers – Phase V in 2015, Leadership & Change Management in Public Administration from UK and has completed important trainings in Jr Level – 1985- 88 Batches Administrative Training Institute 1994-1995, E-Gov and its Benefits IIMB 2004-2005, Advanced Course on WTO Administrative Staff College of India 2006-2007, Negotiating Strategies & PPP , IIMB 2009-2010 and Inner Engineering Leadership Programme 2017-2018. Shri Kapoor is a BE (Elect) and MBA is Business Management.
