Ms. Swapna Devireddy, IRS, is currently serving as Director in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Government of India, New Delhi, where she is associated with initiatives related to wastewater treatment and sanitation management. An Indian Revenue Service officer, she has over 13 years of experience with the Government of India and has held several key positions in the Income Tax Department, including Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (2023), Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (2020–2022), Deputy Director (2015–2020), and Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax (2010–2014) in Mumbai. Prior to joining the IRS, she served in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) from 2007 to 2010 and worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Computer Sciences Corporation in Noida from 2002 to 2006.
Ms. Devireddy holds a degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and a Master’s in Taxation and Business Laws from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. She has also pursued advanced training in economics and public financial management from institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, along with certifications in international taxation and transfer pricing from the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
