Shri Sumeet Kumar Jarangal IAS (Punjab 2009) has been appointed as Joint Secretary- Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade for a combined tenure of five years upto 02/04/2028 vice Shri Sanjiv IRS (IT 1993).

His additional responsibilities as Labour Commissioner, Mission Director for Skill Development, and Director General for Employment Generation and Training highlight his engagement with workforce development and labour administration.
In the energy sector, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Energy Development Agency and in roles related to alternative energy. These assignments involved promoting renewable energy initiatives, including bio-fuels and sustainable energy solutions, reflecting his involvement in emerging policy areas linked to environmental sustainability and energy security.
His tenure in information and public relations as Director added another dimension to his administrative profile, involving communication strategies, public outreach, and media coordination.
