Shri Srivatsa Krishna, an accomplished officer of the Indian Administrative Service, is widely regarded for his intellectual depth, global exposure, and forward-looking administrative approach. Academically, Shri Krishna’s credentials are both diverse and distinguished. He completed his postgraduate studies in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, securing first-class distinction. He further pursued a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University, gaining exposure to global management practices and strategic thinking. Adding to his academic repertoire, he completed a certificate course in Finance from University of Oxford and earned a Ph.D. in Management from Indian Institute of Technology Madras. This rich academic background reflects a rare combination of policy insight, managerial expertise, and research orientation.
Shri Krishna began his administrative career with foundational roles in district administration, including his tenure as Sub-Divisional Officer and later as Joint Collector in Hyderabad. These early assignments provided him with firsthand experience in governance at the grassroots level, shaping his understanding of public systems and citizen engagement.
An important phase of his career was marked by his early involvement in the Information Technology sector within the Government of Andhra Pradesh, where he served in executive roles focusing on IT initiatives. Shri Krishna’s global exposure is a defining aspect of his professional journey. He served with the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, D.C., as Group Program Manager. During this period, he worked on international development projects, gaining valuable insights into global best practices, institutional frameworks, and economic development strategies. This experience significantly enriched his policy perspective and administrative outlook.
Back in India, Shri Krishna held key leadership positions in the Government of Karnataka, including Secretary (IT and Innovation) and Secretary (e-Governance). In these roles, he played a role in advancing digital governance initiatives and fostering innovation-driven administrative processes. His tenure reflects an emphasis on integrating technology with governance to improve efficiency and service delivery.
He also served as Chairman in the Urban Development domain, where he contributed to urban planning and infrastructure management. His ability to navigate diverse sectors—from IT and innovation to urban governance—demonstrates a high degree of administrative versatility.
At the central level, Shri Krishna served as Secretary of the Coffee Board of India, where he was associated with policy and promotion efforts in the coffee sector.
