A Post Graduate in Industrial Economics and Business Administration, Shri Surinder Pal Singh Parmar is an IPS Officer of 1998 batch. He has held a number of important and sensitive positions in the State. He headed Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Mansa and Amritsar (Rural) as Senior Supdt. of Police. Apart from holding other important positions, he also remained posted as SP CM Security & Telecommunication, Chandigarh, Asstt. Commandant 7th Bn. PAP Jalandhar, AIG Crime (Punjab) & DIGP-cum-Joint Director PPA, Phillaur. Presently he is serving as IGP-cum-Additional Director at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur. During his present posting he has taken a number of innovative initiatives to update the training methodology to deal with emerging challenges in field. He has attended a number of prestigious training programme including a course on Counter Terrorism at National Police Academy,Hyderabad,Vertical Interaction Course on “People Friendly Policing” held at Rajasthan Police Academy, Jaipur and Management of Training Course at National Police Academy, Hyderabad. He represented Punjab Police in 34th & 35th National Symposiums of Heads of Training Institutions in India held in New Delhi. He led his men from the front during the dreadful days of terrorism. He has been decorated with President Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the year 2014 for his outstanding contribution to the Police Departme
